Come to Go.

I love the song, “Come, Now is the Time to Worship.”  To me, I see this song as a two-part conversation between God and man.  God is saying:

Come now is the time to worship
Come now is the time to give your heart
Come just as you are to worship
Come just as you are before your God
Come

While man responds by saying:

One day every tongue will confess You are God
One day every knee will bow
Still the greatest treasure remains for those
Who gladly choose You now

Willingly we choose to surrender our lives
Willingly our knee will bow
With all our heart, soul, mind, and strength
We gladly choose You now

The conversation goes back and forth, each person singing out his love for the other.  Each one making a commitment to the other: “You are My beloved” and “You are my God.”  This song is commonly used to invite people into worship.  It beckons us to come as we are, before our God who loves us as we are.

However, this song took on new meaning when I overheard some one talking about singing this song at the close of worship.  This girl had said, “Our worship leader wanted to send us out with this message.  Challenging us to live our lives as our worship to God.”  I could not agree more.

Our lives were meant to be lived out for God’s glory shining forth God’s message.  Plain and simple.  As He invites us to worship Him, just as we are, He sends us out to worship Him, just as we are.  Our lives are His, not ours; and it is Christ’s Love the compels us to love and live a lifestyle of worship (1 Corinthians 6:19-20, 2 Corinthians 5:14).  Therefore, let us come to Him in order that we may go for Him.

Next time you hear, “Come, Now is the Time to Worship,” consider these words instead:

GO, now is the time to worship
GO, now is the time to give your heart
GO, just as you are to worship
GO, just as you are before your God
GO …

One day every tongue will confess You are God
One day every knee will bow
Still the greatest treasure remains for those
Who gladly choose You now

GO, now is the time to worship
GO, now is the time to give your heart
GO, just as you are to worship
GO, just as you are before your God

Willingly we GO to surrender our lives
Willingly our knee will bow
With all our heart, soul, mind, and strength
We gladly GO FOR You now

Next time you are worshiping, remember that God is inviting you to come into His presence and to go forth in His presence.
